Hello!
I'm Ashley Roccamo, an Instructional Designer based in Maryland. This means many things, but the biggest is that I'm great at designing, implementing and evaluating courses and programs in higher education. Right now I work at American University, helping faculty to design and build online and hybrid courses for students in programs as diverse as Spanish, Film and Nutrition. I recently finished collaborating on a large-scale redesign of the first year experience program at AU.
I got into education and training because of my lifelong interest in languages, their components, and how they're learned. I've followed this interest for most of my adult life, teaching courses at the university level for six years and finishing a Ph.D. in German Linguistics and Language Science at Penn State in 2014. Since then, I've worked on projects related to program evaluation, learning outcomes assessment, professional development, and technical training in both higher education and the federal government.
I've spent the vast majority of my life being a learner, so I've always been particularly interested in how to make the experience of learners better, no matter what they are endeavoring to learn. I enjoy being part of the process that helps provide students with the tools they will need to succeed.
